1. Acquire 100 grams of fingering or sock weight yarn, and either needle sets of US3/US1 OR US2/US0 2. Cast on a total of 30 using Judy's magic cast on 3. Knit 1 round 4. (Knit 2, M1L, knit 26, M1R, knit 2)x2 --> increase of 4 stitches 5. Knit 1 round 6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 2-3 more times (k2, M1L, k n, M1R, k2)x2; k to end 7. Continue increase method, but knit 2 rows in between increase rows to create more of a rounded toe (optional). Continue increasing untl desired foot diameter is reached (typically 60-70 stitches. I do 60 stitches for mine.) 8. Knit evenly in the round using either 8inch circulars, 9inch circulars, dpns, or magic loop until the piece measures 60% of your total foot length. * Place two stitch markers: one at the BOR and the other at the halfway point. 9. Slip Marker, M1R, k to marker, M1L, slip marker, k to end (inc by 2) 10. Knit 1 round even * NOTE: for next increases pattern will be "sm, k(n), M1R, k (0.5 base), M1L, k(n), sm, k to end" 11. Repeat steps 9 and 10 until gusset increases total stitches by 50% (so a 60 stitch base would be increased to 90 stitches) 12. Isolate the 0.5 base on the anterior side of the project, this will be your heel. You will be working German short rows. 13. Knit until 1 stitch from EOR, wrap and turn work 14. Purl until 1 stitch from marker, wrap and turn work 15. Knit up to the last w&t, w&t 16. Purl up to the last w&t, w&t (the w&t "double stitches" will be right next to each other) 17. Continue steps 15 and 16 until only 1/3 the isolated section remains un-shortrowed (ex. 10 stitches of a 30 stitch isolation in the middle) 18. After your last w&t, knit until 1 from marker. Slip the next stitch, remove the marker, slip the next stitch and k the two together through the back loop (ssk)(you can replace the marker, but I find it too tedious so I just get good) 19. Purl until 1 from marker, then purl that stitch with the stitch after the marker (a la step 18 but purlwise) 20. Continue steps 18 and 19 until the gusset has been reabsorbed and you're back to your base stitch count 21. Knit evenly for as high as you want your sock to be minus a centimeter or two, possibly throwing an increase in there to account for calf size but you can figure that out. 22. Switch to smaller needles and increase approx. every seven stitches (increasing by odd numbers ensures your final number will be even-- easier for 1x1 ribbing) 23. Knit1/Purl1 ribbing (2 sizes down is standard to minimize weird looking ribbing but it's purely aesthetic) 24. Cast off with a stretchy method of your choosing
Theatrical Solitude
About me:
First of all, it's important that you know I know goblins are real enough to send you to hell. I've seen them, and I'm not interested in hearing your lies and denial about them. Just look out the window. Not working yet? Take some diphenhydramine. Trust me.
Next, have you been keeping track of the coconut economy? Could you even avoid coconuts if you tried? They're putting it in the butter and the diesel fuel. Good luck getting a shampoo if you have an allergy.
If you haven't gotten weird by the age of 25, you're not observant enough.
